Born in Belfast in 1986, Sam Robb studied at Belfast Metropolitan, Higher education college in Castlereagh and is undergoing her BA Hons in University of Ulster. She is a fine art painter with a performative element to it.
Sam uses her life experiences as the topics for her recent work. This has manifested into researching, gender, sexuality, depression and society’s response to the role of a female through their appearance in a sexualized and demeaning context. There are beauty and a brutal ugliness in the images that reflect the many experiences that she has had. Key themes in the work are depression, loss of identity, barriers, and oppression.
